Personio was born in Munich for the DACH market. Dokuflex was born in Barcelona for Spain-based companies: native A3innuva and Meta4 payroll, in-house eIDAS signature, real low-code BPM and AEAT homologation for VERI*FACTU. Same HR ambition, plus the Iberian tax and labour ecosystem out of the box.
Methodology: public data reviewed in May 2026 on personio.com, product documentation, integration marketplaces and verified reviews (G2, Capterra).
Publicly stated features from both vendors, reviewed in May 2026. The DACH vs Spain HR software decision depends on your market, your payroll stack and your need to combine BPM, signature and tax compliance in one platform.

This is not a critique of Personio: it is a market-fit question. Personio is a DACH reference; Dokuflex is the Iberian reference. For a company headquartered and paid in Spain, these five points typically drive the decision when evaluating a Spanish HR Personio alternative.
Personio was designed for DACH and internationalised afterwards. Dokuflex starts from the Spanish reality: sector-specific collective bargaining agreements, public holidays per region, working-hours registry under RD-ley 8/2019, IRPF (Spanish personal income tax) and paid leave from Law 6/2024 already configured.
Certified connectors with A3innuva (Wolters Kluwer), Meta4 / Cegid HR Suite, SAP SuccessFactors, Sage and Workday. Personio is focused on Germany's DATEV and leaves Iberian integrations to the customer or partners.
Personio does not touch Spanish tax compliance. Dokuflex includes a VERI*FACTU adapter aligned with RD 1007/2023 and Order HAC/1177/2024, with invoice capture aligned to Order EHA/962/2007. Ready for the mandatory dates: 1 Jan 2027 (corporate tax) and 1 Jul 2027 (self-employed and SMEs).
Personio is pure HR. Dokuflex is a low-code BPM platform with HR as one use case: the same engine automates procurement, case files, contracts, invoices and any cross-functional flow. No jumping between three different tools for processes that touch each other.
Support and customer success team in Barcelona, in Iberian business hours and native Spanish (also Catalan and Portuguese). When an A3innuva integration breaks at 18:00 on a Friday, the difference is tangible.
HR, eIDAS signature, document management, invoice capture and BPM on the same platform and under a single GDPR/DPA agreement. Lower integration cost, fewer DPAs to manage and less internal friction between HR, finance and IT.
We don't want to sell you something that doesn't fit. Personio is still the better option in two specific scenarios:
If your company is headquartered in Germany, Austria or Switzerland and you need to harmonise HR policies across five or more EU countries, Personio is a multi-country reference with mature localisation in DACH, BeNeLux, Ireland and the Nordics. Its DACH connector catalogue (DATEV, Sage, HR Works) is hard to match.
If your HR team wants a highly polished HR-only tool, with no need for a horizontal platform (no BPM, no in-house signature, no AI-powered DMS), Personio shines on UX and employee onboarding experience. It is a valid decision when the rest of your stack is already consolidated.

Proven process for companies of 50 to 500 employees with mixed headcount and A3, Meta4 or SAP payroll. We preserve history, balances and signed documents.
Together we export the modules active in Personio: employees, contracts, absences, working-hours registry, documents and, if applicable, ATS. We identify what gets migrated as-is and what gets redesigned as a BPM flow.
We load employees, collective bargaining agreements, regional labour calendars and paid leave rules. We connect A3innuva, Meta4 or SAP and enable the eIDAS signature for contracts and payslips.
We start with one department or branch. We validate vacation, time tracking, multi-level approval and payroll export. We tune rules with real feedback before the full rollout.
Rollout to the rest of the headcount, express training for managers and employees, and phased Personio decommission. Signed documents and DACH history archived in Dokuflex under GDPR.
It works, but it is designed first for the DACH market (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). In Spain there are pieces that require extra integrations: collective bargaining agreements (convenios), working-hours registry under RD-ley 8/2019, eIDAS signature with Spanish trust service providers, AEAT (Spanish tax authority) reporting and A3innuva or Meta4 payroll. Dokuflex covers all of that out of the box with native Spanish-speaking support.
Dokuflex is not a pure ATS. If you depend on the Personio recruiting module, keep it or connect it via API. For most Spanish SMEs and mid-market companies, the Personio ATS is replaced by a low-code BPM flow that reproduces sourcing, interviews and offer stages with no additional license cost. If you need a specialised ATS, we integrate with Greenhouse, Lever or Recruitee.
Dokuflex offers native connectors with A3innuva (Wolters Kluwer), Meta4 / Cegid HR Suite, SAP SuccessFactors, Sage and Workday. Personio has limited or partner-led integration for A3 and no native Meta4 connector. For companies with mixed or multi-provider payroll setups, the integration saving is several weeks and reduces dependency on external consultancies.
Personio has a time-tracking module that can be used as working-hours registry, but the fine-grained traceability required by RD-ley 8/2019 (4-year retention, access for the Labour Inspectorate and the employee, registry integrity) often requires manual configuration. Dokuflex includes these requirements out of the box and exports the official report with no development. General guidance: for your specific case, consult your labour advisor.
Yes. Mid-sized Spanish companies that adopted Personio in 2021-2023 as a pure HR SaaS and, as they grew, needed to add BPM, eIDAS signature, AI-powered document management and AEAT connectivity have migrated to Dokuflex to consolidate the technology stack. We keep client confidentiality until the case study is officially published.
Dokuflex imports employees, contractual data, vacation balances, working-hours records and signed documents (PDF + evidence) from Personio's official export. Migration is run in batches with cross-validation, and we preserve DACH history where applicable, keeping data in the EU and compliant with GDPR. If your headcount includes employees in Germany or Austria, we can keep Personio as the DACH system of record during the transition.
In 30 minutes we'll show you how your payroll (A3, Meta4, SAP) and your collective agreements fit. No generic decks.
